That’s Offensive

By Ron Graham

“Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” 1 Peter 2:7-8.

“You can’t draw that, that’s offensive”. These were the words that a thirteen year old student in California heard a few days ago from her teacher. The student had drawn a picture of the American flag with the words “God bless America” inscribed on the flag. For this she was singled out and told her project was offensive. Then the teacher went on to praise another student who had drawn a picture of Obama. This is just a very small sampling of what’s happening across this nation.

Spiritual Warfare

image Joseph R. Chambers

Spiritual warfare has never been at the present level. This is not an ordinary struggle or battle but the beginning of the final conflict before the kingdom of Christ fills the earth. While the entire earth is the scene, the nation of Israel and the saints of our Lord are the targets. Since we do not know the day of the Rapture, we must not give up the cultural war in our nations. What is occurring in America is nothing less than moral suicide. America is quickly going to Hell.

Pornography and Moral Blindness

image No Christian and no decent person would ever endorse production and consumption of pornography or erotica. It simply goes against the command to flee fornication. The Lord Himself said,  in Matthew 5:28  "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart". That ought to settle the issue for all of us, but some would still want to hear some more. And here is the additional news.

Wells without Water

By Ron Graham

image “These are wells without water…” 2 Peter 2:17a. We have a well on our property which on the outside looks the same as most other wells these days. Our well is 518 feet deep, but on the outside it just looks like a pipe sticking out of the ground. Its job, of course, is the same as most other rural country wells, which is to draw water from an underground reservoir and move that water into our home. Many of you reading this commentary may have a very similar looking pipe sticking out of the ground in your yard. Though they may look the same from the outside, the question is, are they?

Blasphemy: the Final Scourge of Satan

As we watch for the Rapture, the last onslaught of Satan is the spirit of blasphemy. The nature of the Antichrist is a diabolical hatred of all that is God or Godlike. When Satan is cast out of Heaven and confined to the earth, his immediate action is to blaspheme whatever represents God. He will blaspheme the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. He will seek to imitate each person of the Godhead. He will actually fill the earth with blasphemy, and everything that is pure will be trashed to the ultimate.

Miles To Go!!

Asha C Alexander

One of the poems, I learnt in my childhood, has been really inspiring, for my Christian life. The poem titled "Stopping by woods on a snowy evening" was, written by the famous poet "Robert Frost". In his poem, the poet explains, how on his way to a far off place, he stops by a stranger’s wood, to spend the night. The rest of the poem relates to the events, happened during the night. What inspired me was the last stanza of the poem, which says;

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep”.

Why I Tell Stories from the Bible

image Why I Tell Stories from the Bible (and Why You Should, Too)
Stanley Ward

When is the last time you watched Star Wars with a six-year-old? It was today for me. When Star Wars first appeared on movie screens in 1977, I was five; now that my youngest daughter is six, I promised her we could watch it together. Because I’ve seen the movie uncountable times, I’m having more fun watching her expressions – at times mirthful, sometimes anxious, but always intense.

A Shining Star

Asha C. Alexander
Doha Brethren Assembly

Birds As a young child, I loved to gaze at the stars during the night. And, often I would find myself, lost in the world of stars. And, in that age of innocence, I strongly believed that, the stars were looking and smiling back at me. I guess it was the effect of reading too many fairy tales. As I grew up, and became a teenager my fascination for the stars, never changed. But, rather I also developed a fascination for nature. Every time I would find something new, with awe and wonder would I study it.

Criticism

Criticism has been labeled as the sweetest sin. This seems to be true if we evaluate it by the amount of criticism and gossip in which the children of God indulge. However, the end is only bitter. In this article the author challenges his readers to recognize the true nature of this sin and flee from it.

In this article the author explains this and also clarifies some misunderstandings that prevent people from exercising this tremendous cleaning process available to every believer in Christ.

Difficulties And Problems

Popular testimonies and the general lack of understanding the Word of God has  given rise to a very erroneous notion about the problems of difficulties in Christian life.  Today Christians widely believe that since Christ is the answer to the most serious problem facing mankind (i.e., spiritual death), he will never let smaller problems touch those  whom he has saved from this major problem.
