Bro. Roy Jacob, Detroit was diagnosed with brain tumor on September, 2010. He underwent treatment for the many months. Believers around the world had been remembering him in prayers. It pleased the Lord to answer our prayers, making his ongoing treatment successful. He had been strengthened enough to attend the Sunday worship meetings at Indian Gospel Assembly, Detroit for many weeks with his wife Gigy; and children Grace and Joel.   Later, he was readmitted to the hospital  following the recurrence of his previous health problems (inoperable tumor).  His situation became very critical and doctors were not sure any further medical procedures could help in his situation. It pleased the Lord to call him Home today(May 14, 2012) at 4:00pm. He is at a place where there is no more pain, sorrow or tears. Let us uphold the family who is grieving at this time. May the Lord console them, strengthen them and  fill their hearts with peace.

Revelation 18:13 says that Mystery Babylon shall use the following as business commodities, "cinnamon, and odours, and ointments, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and slaves, and souls of men". The last phrase "souls of men" often perplexes many, but students of prophecy feels that this is an indication that even very humans shall become business commodities that is sold and bought by the Revived Babylonian Empire.

The Slave Trade worldwide was only an indication of things to come, but what we see developing today is much more shocking than that because it ultimately tampers with human beings at such a level that "selling of souls" seems an apt name for it.

Some years ago it came to light that many of the biggest names in cosmetic products were adding extracts from ground up flesh of aborted fetuses, mostly in the highly expensive cosmetics for facial skin regeneration. A hue and cry at the international level made many of them to promise that they will cease and desist from doing so, but one can never be sure of what they are doing behind the walls today.

Then there was news that aborted fetuses were a commodity highly in demand as a food supplement in China and Focus on Family even published a lengthy researched article on it. Now comes news that a company by the name of Senomyx has been using cells from aborted fetuses to test the "taste" of commercial food products. They obtain these human cells from the kidneys of aborted fetuses. What is more, they use these cells for doing research for a number of companies that have very popular products. One of them is Pepsi, the food and soft-drink giant.

However, some people came to know of this Senomyx-Pepsi link and how the researches conducted by Senomyx with the use of aborted tissue cells was being used by Pepsi. They put much pressure on Pepsi, which finally bowed to the pressure and agreed no longer to use the products of these experiments. At the same time, for one Pepsi whose use of the Senomyx fetal-cell researches came to light, there might be fifty other companies that use the same type of research but which never come to light. Allow things to go in this manner for a few years, and nobody would be able to do anything against such procedures because by that time it becomes a well-established practice of food-related research.

The above is definitely part of what the Bible prophecies — that human beings, and their essence, will eventually become a part of commodity sold and bought by the Mystery Babylon, the Mother of Harlots. Obviously, with each day that passes away, we are moving closer to the rapture and the rise of the Revived Babylonian Empire.

Head-covering for women is a very essential Biblical instruction which the Church has followed for the past 2000 years. The Coming Of Christ: Is There Any Evidence?

Once it becomes clear that it is important to study Bible Prophecy, a question immediately comes to mind: are there any discernible signs these days for the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. The question comes up due to a number of reasons, and one of them is the abundance of "failed" prophecies.

For example, everyone knows that many prophecy-teachers have been going all around rabidly proclaiming that a computer in USA or Europe is going to record information about ALL the people and that it surely "the Beast" or 666 of the Bible. The story has been making endless rounds since 1960s and in the last 50 years of circulation it has been exposed to be a totally fake story: a prophetic hoax. Another one is about the "ten-nation" European Union,  a group that now stands at more than double that number. These were claimed as "contemporary fulfillment" of Prophecy, but have turned out to be totally false. This has made many to ask if we do have any evidence at all that prophecies are getting fulfilled.

Two things should be noted in answer to the above question. First, the so-called "failed prophecies" are of man’s making and not of Scriptural origin. These things are not taught in the Bible, but are rather the products of fertile human minds. Obviously, such fancy interpretations would definitely fail because there is no divine authority behind them. Second, a careful look at the world history and its general direction will immediately demonstrate that prophecies are definitely getting fulfilled.

The Lord during one of his teaching sessions said " For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" (Mathew 5:18). Thus we have it on the authority of the Lord Himself that the Scripture and its statements/affirmations will surely be fulfilled. Meanwhile, it is human assertions, peddled in the name of prophecy, that fail. The word of God, on the other hand, does not fail. We keep seeing evidence of this everywhere and that is a sure sign that each day we are inching closer to the coming of the Lord.

The Scripture furnishes Bible students with several keys using which they can understand with great confidence, God’s prophetic plan for the ages. For example, in the dream of a statue with a terrible countenance, the Scripture gives a general framework of human history from around 600 BC to the end, and this framework was interpreted and made clear by the Holy Spirit through Daniel. This can be considered the "key" or the general framework that we ought to see developing in human history from 600 BC onwards. When Bible Prophecy is approached in this way, it becomes clear that world history has indeed been unfolding exactly the way it has been prophesied in the Bible.

One of the most surprising developments in keeping with Bible prophecies is the restoration of the nation of Israel. The Northern Kingdom (Israel) was completely destroyed first, and then the Southern Kingdom (Judah) was completely destroyed by BC 400. So complete was this destruction of Israel, and so thorough was the manner in which the Jews were dispersed that no observer of world history ever thought that Israel would be rebuilt. Meanwhile, the Holy Land was taken over by numerous powerful kingdoms in succession, and a large number of non Jews settled in that land — calling it their homeland and motherland for almost 2400 years. Nobody in their right mind anywhere in the world — whether inside or outside the Holy Land — ever thought that Jews would one day be re-established their motherland. Nor did they ever think that Jews would go back or would even like to go back to Israel.

However, in keeping with prophecies,  Israel did become a nation. Today it is in its seventh decade of independence and has almost 8 million Jews, and this number keeps increasing by the day. Since the Scripture says that the Anti Christ shall enter into a covenant with Israel, it is essential for Israel to be a powerful nation before the rise of the Anti Christ. Since his rise takes place soon after the rapture of the Church, it is obvious that Israel should become an independent and autonomous nation before rapture. This is exactly what we see happening in world history: contrary to the expectation of everyone, Israel has indeed become a nation 2300 years after its total destruction, in keeping with Biblical prophecies.

The scripture contains numerous similar prophecies, which would be fulfilled before the Rapture and the Second Advent. This includes prophecies that there will be wars worldwide, famines worldwide, earthquakes, signs in the skies. All of these have been taking place and have been increasing both in their intensity as well as in their frequencies. In Matthew 24:  4-14 we read:

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.  For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.  And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is   not yet.  For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.  All these are the beginning of sorrows.  Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.  And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.  And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.  And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.  But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Even a casual observation of world history will show that every one of those prophecies has come true, and their intensity has been increasing by the  day. This includes the statement that "this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations." In the light of all the above, we can now easily answer the question, "Is there any evidence that prophecies related to the coming of Christ are true." The answer clearly is: yes, to the discerning and inquiring mind, there is more than ample evidence that prophecies related to the coming of Christ are being fulfilled exactly the way Scripture mentions them. Thus, everyone can be assured that the day is not far when Christ shall surely come back.

While many mission-leaders are known for living in luxurious Villas, Miss Treasure continue to live in the old building with tiled roofs that are well-known for developing leakage after a few decades of use. I was surprised also because when someone came forward with an offer, she opted get a massive multi-storey building for the inmates of the Orphanage, not for her.

Once we sat down for food, she introduced to me her call, how she came to India, and how the Lord has been using her. She also mentioned how the launch of RTI would be a great blessing for the over-all Rehoboth ministries. I was simply amazed at her commitment to people in a land totally different from her people in language, culture, and general outlook.

I then shared my testimony as to how I was born in Kerala to parents who eventually became pioneer evangelists in Rajasthan and MP. I told her how I was brought up in North India so that I was a Malayalee by birth and a North Indian by culture. I also related how a large number of Indians and non Indians, assembly people and non assembly people, mentored me over the years.

That was also the first time she came to know about my secular background at the Jiwaji University, Gwalior. She was also happy to note that I had been connected with the Brethren Bible Institute, Pathanamthitta since its inception. I was the Acting Principal of BBI at that time. The talk that we thought might last for thirty minutes lasted for several hours. Several such meetings and discussions took place during the next few months.

She exclaimed several times during our discussion that the Lord had sent the right person to them as a consultant. She said that the group that has been praying for RTI desired to establish an outstanding institution, both in terms of academic activities as well as in terms of the spiritual atmosphere, and she said that these consultations would surely help them much.

The consultations went on for months. Finally Rehoboth Theological Institute started taking a clear shape in front of all of us. The blueprint was there for all of us to discuss the details about what goes where.

Meanwhile Dr. Ian Payne, an eminent scholar and architect from New Zealand came to Rehoboth at the invitation of Miss Treasure. He was invited to study the property and design the blueprint for a campus.

He carefully pored over the map of the 50-acre property and designed a campus based upon the most accepted principles for modern college campuses. I was then invited to go through the map with him and suggest improvements/modifications. Dr. Payne is no ordinary architect, and what he tentatively designed was unbelievable. Together we went over the tentative blueprint building by building and brick by brick and I was able to visualize the campus of brick and mortar as it would one day be.

Miss Treasure had earmarked 15 acres of land for this project. The institutions where I studied and worked had very large campuses and I already knew the advantage of having a very large campus. So my first action was to request that this be increased to a tentative 25 acres. She said that the Trust would surely consider allocating 25 acres of land for the eventual use of RTI. Based upon this assurance, I suggested many modifications and additions to Dr. Payne. This included the addition of vast areas of cemented plain land which would become playgrounds (Basketball, football) and parking space for hundreds of cars. This also included a very large artificial lake where water from the entire 50 acres of land would be harvested and stored.

By next day Dr. Payne redesigned the whole campus and I was stunned to see it. I realized that in front of me was the picture of one of the best Bible Seminary campuses that I had ever seen in India or outside. I also knew that it might take decades for this campus to develop and that I might not be on the earth to witness it but I had the satisfaction that I was able to join Miss Treasure and Dr. Payne to create a plan that (after necessary modifications in future) would be used to build the most outstanding Bible College in India. A senior Israeli intelligence source engaged directly in counterterrorism told debkafile Thursday, May 3, that, in response to the Palestinian Authority’s failure to stand by its commitments, Israel has upped the terror alert level in Judea and Samaria, as well as along the Israel-West Bank boundary. Israeli security officials believe it is just a matter of time before Palestinian extremists go back to their old terrorist tactics against Israel.

Until a few weeks ago, Palestinian security authorities were still willing to cooperate with Israel and Western officials working alongside them to prevent “hot attacks” – i.e., plots close to execution. But in recent days, Ramallah has discontinued even that modicum of collaboration.

Debkafile’s intelligence and counterterrorism sources say that Washington and Jerusalem have no doubt that the Palestinian Authority would not have taken this crucial step without the approval of its chairman, Abbas. American officials who taxed him on this received a flat denial and a promise to check with Gen. Abu Dohan, Palestinian Security Forces chief, and come back with answers. This he failed to do.

There is another troubling symptom of Palestinian backtracking on its war on terror: They have not only stopped arresting suspects of plotting terror attacks, they are opening the doors of their prisons to let detainees go free. This is being done gradually so as not to draw the attention of Israel and US security and intelligence services. The old Palestinian revolving door policy is back for terrorists at police holding cells and detention facilities for which Yasser Arafat was notorious during the uprising of 2000-2004.

Palestinian sources deny that Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal reached any understandings when they met in Cairo Wednesday, May 2. But Israel does not believe this is true. In fact Israeli intelligence sources told debkafile that misinformation about the meeting was disseminated as a smokescreen to deceive Israeli and Western officials.

The truth, said one source, is that “Abu Mazen and Meshal are developing a special relationship very similar to the one that existed in the early 2000’s between Yasser Arafat and the Hamas founder, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.” They were consistently at odds on ideology but in complete agreement on a policy of violence and terrorism against Israel. That private tour of Rehoboth Girl’s Orphanage turned out to be a great discovery for me. For the first time, I had a first hand view of the great institution established a century ago by the great missionary V. Nagal.

She took me around the buildings that house the orphanage. It was a great experience to get into the main hall that houses pictures of all the missionaries that ministered at Rehoboth. She gave me a brief background of these missionaries and their contributions and for me it was like travelling through a Time Machine just before I become a citizen of a new planet.

She then took me to the property at the back of the orphanage. On our way I saw a majestic ancient building. She told me that this was built by the missionary-teacher JM Davis and is known as Kunnathu Bunglow (The Villa on the Mountain) because it was situated at the highest point inside the 50-acre campus.  Eventually this building played a significant role in the housing of the soon-to-be started RTI.

That day we did not get into this building, but rather kept walking. The campus was very big, Miss Treasure wanted to give me a glimpse of everything on the first day itself.  After walking for several hundred feet after the Villa, we reached a vast tract of empty ground.

The tract of empty ground that she showed me had trees on three sides, and the boundary wall on the fourth side. By any measure it was an ideal place to building a Seminary campus and I was sure that RTI will eventually be able to offer world-class facilities to its students. My experience was similar to that of Joshua and companions when they set foot upon the land of Canaan. I exclaimed to myself: RTI has got what other assembly institutions do not have and that is plenty of land. It will surely give a lead to RTI in future. I was not wrong in my assessment.

After standing there and talking for some time and praying over the land we took a different route to return to the Orphanage complex. This time we walked through many acres of cultivated land. Miss Treasure explained how a number of labourers (many of them believers) toiled there to produce tapioca and other local agricultural produces for Rehoboth.

We might have walked a kilometer before we returned to the Missionary Bunglow where Miss Treasure stayed. Seeing that building was a great shock and experience for me.

I always carry detailed outlines in printed format, and I handed over a 100-page long bound volume to them. It contained the outlines of around half a dozen classes plus a lot of supporting material, and they were all very happy and said they expect to see me often in Trichur. That turned out to be a prophetic invitation.

Brother VM John, evangelist based at Trichur, met me twice during this camp and told me that some believers in that town had been praying for something special for several years and they felt that I was the right person for a series of consultations on that subject.

I was serving as the Principal of the Brethren Bible Institute, based at Pathanamthitta, at that time. Thus these people wanted me to give them detailed directions and advises to start a Theological Institute which they wanted to start at Trichur. This was their prayer for many years and they felt that the time was ripe in 2001 to give it a concrete form. VM Johh gave me only a hint and asked me to give them a time for them to visit my house in Ernakulam. I offered, instead, to visit them at Trichur because that would be better than several people traveling to Ernakulam.  The first meeting was schedules immediately after the camp was over and on reaching the house of brother James Williams and found five people: VM John, James Williams, MP Godly, CJ Mathai, and Miss PN Treasure.

They told me that for years they had been praying to know God’s will about starting a Theological Institute at Rehoboth. Rehoboth by that time was a century-old orphanage, started by the great missionary V. Nagal. Miss Treasurer had been managing it for the last four decades. She said that “in 1995 a resolution was passed by the Rehoboth Girls’ Orphanage trust to begin a Bible School in the RGO compound. Later, some godly brethren (VM John, James Williams, CJ Mathai) approached Miss Treasure and shared their burden to have a Bible School in Rehoboth. “ These brethren, brother MP Godly, and Miss Treasurer then prayed over the matter for many years, and felt the leading of the Lord that perhaps now was the time to launch it.

Since none of them had any substantial background in running a college level Bible Institute, they felt that I was the right consultant for them in these matters. As soon as they shared their vision, I encouraged them to go ahead with the ministry. From that time I started paying them a visit on a periodical basis, and each and every aspect of a potential Theological Institute was discussed in this meetings.

Though the initial discussions started with probing the possibility, things started moving into the realm of concrete as the discussions progressed. Almost everything needed for a new institution was there – the vision, the space, faculty, and students. What is more, Miss Treasure wanted to admit girls into the program (a co-educational institution). I was in favour because for decades I had been seeing the problems faced by evangelists who have married women who have no idea of the Bible or the mission field. Just the other day only one of the BBI graduates had asked me if I have any book that explains what “ministry” is because his newly married wife had no idea of what Christian ministry is and that it was making life very difficult for him.

The world’s first glimpse of a killer drone in action was over the English Channel: a Royal Navy patrol boat reported "a bright horizontal flame" in the sky. The device emitting the flame had stubby wings and was shaped like a rocket, and was travelling from the French coast at more than 200mph. Too small and too fast to be intercepted, it arrived in England’s Home Counties without warning; as it plunged earthwards the low drone of the motor cut out and there were three seconds of silence before the massive explosion. Where it exploded, the human beings at the epicentre simply disappeared, vaporised.

Of course, for all the similarities, this was not a Reaper or a Predator, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) used in action by British and US militaries today. The most glaring difference is that modern drones don’t self-destruct, except by mistake. This was the Vergeltungswaffe, the V-1, known affectionately to its German makers as the Maybug and to its terrorised British targets as the "doodlebug".

The Nazis had experimented with making it radio-controlled, but in the end its navigation system was crude. Yet this PAC (pilotless aircraft) – Hitler’s last, desperate throw of the dice as the Allies swarmed towards Berlin – marked the start of a new era in warfare as decisively as did "Fat Man" and "Little Boy", which plummeted towards Hiroshima and Nagasaki a few months later.

The Predator and the Reaper and their rivals and relatives, some developed at Cranfield Aerospace ("Innovation at its Best") in Bedford, are crucially different from the Maybug because they target their victims so precisely. The 186 men, women and children vaporised by a doodlebug in the New Cross branch of Woolworth’s in London’s East End one November Saturday in 1944 had no idea what was coming their way, and no reason to feel more than normally apprehensive.

By contrast, many of the intended victims of today’s drones experience the very specific fear of being killed by them. In US Department of Defense videos with titles such as "UAV Kills Heavily Armed Criminals" and posted on YouTube, the visceral terror of the turbaned figures about to die is palpable. (Drone pilots call the moment of the kill a "bug splat" because of the way it looks on their screens.)

For what the US authorities call "personality strikes" – high-value targets – that specific fear can last for months, even years. Friends and relatives of the Islamist militant and US citizen Anwar al-Awlaki had such strong grounds to fear his assassination by drone that the American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit in August 2010 on behalf of his father, Nasser al-Awlaki, to try to stop it happening.

The judge eventually dismissed the case, arguing that Nasser al-Awlaki would have no grounds to pursue it unless and until his son was actually killed. And so it came to pass: on 30 September 2011 in southern Yemen, the bearded American became one of at least four US citizens, to date, to be deliberately assassinated by US drones.

Nearly 70 years after the doodlebug, the pilotless aircraft was now fully out of the arms dealers’ closet. The cruel and extra-legal targeting of al-Awlaki for liquidation over a number of years, the futile attempt to get the American courts to stop it, and then the coup de grâce in the deserts of Yemen removed the last shreds of official deniability from the killer drone programme – and nobody gave a damn. As one White House official told Rolling Stone magazine, "If Anwar al-Awlaki is your poster boy for why we shouldn’t do drone strikes, good fucking luck."

As a basic idea it is childishly simple, and many of us once played with them: a miniature plane you can pilot remotely. The only real difference is the sophistication of the vehicle itself, and of the navigation and piloting systems.

Drones in service or development today range from a giant with a 400ft wingspan, intended to cruise non-stop for five years, to tiny microdrones powered by miniature batteries; some are the size of a Boeing 727, while the Predators and Reapers in use in Afghanistan are comparable in size to model aircraft. But whatever their shape or size, all of them are designed for one of two purposes: spying or killing.

Even some very sophisticated modern drones look like toys, being scarcely bigger and no less simple and clumsy to launch. Like the toys we played with, you can build a drone at home. One of the people who recently did so was Francis Fukuyama, the Japanese-American political scientist most famous for coining the phrase "The End of History" to describe the global situation after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

"For the past couple of months I have been building myself a surveillance drone," he wrote recently in the Financial Times. There is a funny video that can be tracked down online of him flying it in Hoover Park, Palo Alto, California, near where he teaches at Stanford University.

The drone he built is a geek’s delight, "a remotely controlled quadcopter", as he explained, "a small helicopter with four rotor blades that looks like a flying X, with an onboard video camera that sends a live feed back to my laptop base station … In future I plan to equip the aircraft with an autopilot system that will allow it to fly from one GPS-specified location to another without my having to pilot it."

Enraptured by the technology, Fukuyama worries about what a world full of the things will feel like. "A world in which people can be routinely and anonymously targeted by unseen enemies," he writes, "is not pleasant to contemplate." For all the technological refinements, the device in Fukuyama’s video, hovering uncertainly over Hoover Park’s balding turf and eyeing speculatively both the senior Stanford fellow with the joystick, gazing skywards, and the odd dog-walker, does not seem a million miles from the sort of thing you used to be able to buy in a box at the local toy shop and stick together with UHU.

And it’s that – the conceptual simplicity yoked to ever-increasing technological refinement – that has propelled the drone into headlines across the world in the past year. It is at once a fiendishly efficient killing machine, the ultimate spy weapon, and a tool of potentially vast utility to police forces, farmers, estate agents and journalists.

Needless to say, it is in the US that the possibilities are being most energetically explored. Rural Louisiana has a problem with feral pigs, which breed rapidly and root up farmers’ crops: new state rules are planned to permit their year-round hunting.

Last year an electrical engineer called Cy Brown, in the Louisiana town of Bunkie, devised a labour-saving approach to the problem. Equipping a model plane with a heat-sensing camera, he sends the "Dehogaflier", as he calls it, up over his brother’s rice farm and the craft sends images of the pigs back to a computer on the ground, enabling hunters to locate them and head to the spot to shoot them. "In 15 minutes you know if it’s worth going out or not," Brown said.

If feral pig hunters can find a use for such devices, so can many other people: often it is the courts more than the technology that set the limits, and a law signed by President Obama in February prevents the Federal Aviation Administration from stopping the use of drones for many commercial purposes.
For a real-estate agent to seduce potential clients with aerial movies of his most expensive properties would, until recently, have required a camera crew, a full-sized helicopter and a Hollywood-sized budget to pull off; but now that the strict rules controlling private use of the skies have been rolled back, it can be done for next to nothing, by a drone equipped with a camera. Other uses already in the planning stage include crop dusting, monitoring oil spills and wildlife, and surveying damage from natural disasters.

Drone boosters are keen to accentuate the positive: the drone can be the compassionate hand of society, they point out, reaching into areas and completing tasks unthinkable until now. Steven Gitlin, a spokesman for AeroVironment, a California-based drone manufacturer, spelled out some of the possibilities of drone use for police forces. "Think of a toddler wandering away from home, or an elderly per

son with Alzheimer’s wandering off in a city," he said. "Think of an office hostage situation where exits and entrances need to be watched, or a hazardous-material incident at a chemical plant where it’s too dangerous to send in people. Think of traffic accidents. How useful would it be to have a system that can fly 100ft above and piece together a picture of what happened? These systems can be kept in the trunk of a car and deployed in five minutes."

The use of drones for the surveillance purposes sketched by Gitlin takes us back to their original function. The critical weakness of the Nazi doodlebug was the lack of control: its only use was as a mechanical kamikaze. Once you had control of the thing, everything changed. George Orwell was the first to describe the possibilities, in his novel 1984. "In the far distance a helicopter skimmed down between the roofs, hovered for an instant like a bluebottle, and dashed away again with a curving flight," he wrote in the novel’s first chapter. "It was the police patrol, snooping into people’s windows…"

The technology was not all that far behind him. The first drones capable of subtly controlled movement were a spin-off from the Cold War space race. By the time the US was fighting in Vietnam, the utility of the new devices had become plain. "Vietnam was decisive to the development of drones as the perfect tools to perform dangerous missions without the risk of losing a pilot," according to aviation historian David Cenciotti. By the time America pulled out, their drones had flown some 3,500 ISR – intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance – missions.

It is the snooping function foreseen by Orwell that is the most significant next step for drones in our societies: with our cities and public buildings already saturated with surveillance cameras, we may fondly suppose that the state’s monitoring of our daily lives has gone as far as it can go. But we ain’t seen nothing yet.

We find ourselves today at a bizarre interface between the imminent new reality and the most paranoid of science-fiction fantasies. In the turbid realms of UFO and ET "research", the flying saucer and its derivatives have finally been put out to grass, along with the little green men who inhabited them. Enter in their place, in a blinding blaze of fancy, the "dragonfly drone", a machine that might have been inspired by a Leonardo da Vinci sketch, covered with mysterious "extraterrestrial" lettering that bears a strong resemblance to the Japanese katakana syllabary.

In June 2007 in Alabama, it was reported, "the mystery of the dragonfly-shaped aerial drones took another turn with the release of an alleged secret report containing photographs of alleged extraterrestrial technologies". The basic idea is that US authorities over the years recovered the debris of crashed dragonfly drones from outer space and then tried to retro-engineer them (including crucially their "anti-gravity generator") for commercial use.

But being an ET-oriented futurist visionary is a losers’ game these days: all their extravagant fancies keep getting mugged by the real stuff coming out of the research laboratories. "It was way back in May 2010 that I first spotted the flying drones that will take over the world," Farhad Manjoo wrote in Slate magazine earlier this year. In a video shot in a robotics lab in the University of Pennsylvania, "an insect-like, laptop-sized ‘quadrotor’ performs a series of increasingly difficult tricks," he wrote. "The drone can fly through or around pretty much any obstacle.

We see it dance through an open window with fewer than three inches of clearance… it pirouettes in an ellipse. It gets a claw-like gripper that allows it to pick up objects, and then it learns to ‘co-operate’ with other drones and pick things up together." The tiny drones fly through obstacles, land clumsily and recover, get together in a team to build structures, flying in a coordinated ballet.

This is the latest and perhaps most hair-raising development: "They’re built," Manjoo writes, "to automatically, instantly collaborate in the air. The behaviour is modelled after insects like ants – it happens without a central coordinator, via the drones’ ability to sense their distance from one another as they fly. By the time you’ve stopped staring [at the video]," Manjoo comments, "you’ve opened another browser tab to look for good deals on bomb shelters."

Orwell’s black vision of total surveillance – "It was even conceivable," he wrote in 1984, "that [the Thought Police] watched everybody all the time" – is finally achieving its technological apotheosis. In a few weeks, the US Army is expected to deploy in Afghanistan its latest helicopter-style drone, the A160 Hummingbird, equipped with 1.8 gigapixel colour cameras.

Able to hover, unlike current drones, it will have "unprecedented capability to track and monitor activity on the ground", the Army says. Able to track people and vehicles from above 20,000ft, and with a 65sq-mile field of view, it will have 65 steerable "windows" able to follow separate targets. More modest surveillance drones may be used to enhance police monitoring of London’s Olympics.

As with the development of earlier awesome technologies, such as the atom bomb, there is a temptation with drones simply to gape, to confess amazement and admit impotence to halt the march of "progress", no matter where and upon what it should trample. But unlike developments in purely speculative, futuristic fields, that luxury is barred to us with drones. Because we already see how their combination of miniature scale, total controllability and long-range impunity and deniability have proved irresistible to a handful of very powerful governments. Just three, in fact: the US, Israel and Britain.

he first major use of killer drones by the US was when Predators attacked a convoy in Yemen in 2002, killing the al-Qa’ida leader in the country. Since then, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, their use has increased exponentially: the US is now believed to have 19,000 Predator and Reaper drones in war theatres; Britain’s Reaper drones have carried out 200 strikes in Afghanistan, 3,000 alleged terrorists are said to have been killed by them, along with many hundreds of non-terrorists unlucky enough to have been in the way.

And President Obama has proved a big fan of drones: in his name the US has made 200 drone strikes on Pakistan, compared to 44 ordered by his predecessor; under George W Bush around 400 died in such strikes, while under Obama the number is believed to be around 1,600. His expanded use of the devices, despite the obvious and glaring moral issues that remote-control murder poses, has proved politically canny: their use has attracted a derisory amount of criticism, either here or in the US.

With the news that Britain’s Reaper drones would, from now on, be remotely piloted not from Nevada but from a new installation inside RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire, a retired midwife called Helen John, one of the pioneers of the legendary Greenham Common anti-cruise missile campaign, set up shop outside the base to protest, as reported in the Lincolnshire Echo. It was notable, however, that this time around, the 73-year-old was completely alone.

Chris Cole, a veteran pacifist campaigner based in Oxford, has welded together a network of groups to raise awareness of and direct criticism at military drone programmes. In the US, the debate in magazines such as Slate and, most recently, Rolling Stone has been lively and high-profile. But in neither Britain nor the US have the protesters yet succeeded in making their voices heard over the silence of the politicians and the snores of the majority.

The reason is not hard to find. Drones allow the US to kill "bad guys" in countries such as Somalia and Yemen and Pakistan where no US troops are committed. And at the same time they ensure that these obscure, undeclared battlefields yield no body bags to trouble the sleep of America. That’s no doubt why US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has called drones, "the only game in town".

They will doubtless continue to enjoy a large degree of impunity in our mass media, either until a lot of people come to see the ordinary inhabitants of places such as Pakistan’s North West Frontier as human beings who deserve to be left in peace; or (and this is likely to happen sooner) some of our nastier enemies get hold of similarly terrifying technology and start to use it. Hope is the emotional state, the opposite of which is despair, which promotes the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one’s life. Hope gives strength to our life to face any difficult situation or circumstances . It gives mental courage  and help to rejoice through times of tears and sufferings and leads us to the right destination.  In Hebrew 6:19, Paul says: “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil”.

Here Apostle Paul compared Hope to the Anchor of vessel . Let us see how an anchor is useful to a vessel. An anchor is a device, normally made of metal, that is  connected to the sea bed to prevent the vessel from drifting or moving due to wind or current and to help stabilize the vessel during adverse conditions and remain fixed and firm. The adverse conditions can be due to drifting ,tides and storms. Anchor of vessel derive their holding power from their mass and also while hooking onto the rocks or embedding into the bottom of sea. As long as the anchor holds, so long the ship is safe, and faces no danger. The strength and safety of the passengers depends on the quality of the material used for making the anchor. Anchor with good material has a strong holding power in sand/mud by hooking into the seabed.

Hope is an Anchor of Soul.

We can imagine Christian life is a voyage. This world  as the sea, soul is as a ship and hope is as an Anchor. Our Ship may wreck on this voyage when it is tossed by various temptations, like feelings which make us insecure, physical infirmities, anxieties, family problems, peer pressures, loneliness..etc. Scripture says: holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith. (1Thi,1:19) . But as an anchor  cast into the bottom of the sea secures the whole ship and holds the ship firm, similarly the anchor of  hope helps us to hold firm and steadfast our soul in this troublesome voyage. Rather than bringing the boat to a complete stop all of a sudden, anchor  drags the boat’s speed and brings it to a stop gradually thus it acts like a brake. When we are toiling in deep anxiety; hope comforts us and calmly brings us into a safer state.

Faith is the cable between soul and hope.

The cable or rope or chain is the connecting medium between the ship and the anchor. The vessel is attached to the anchor by the rode which is made of chain, cable,rope, or a combination of these. So the length and type of the cable used to attach the sea anchor is also important. Faith is the cable between soul and anchor of hope. If the cable is not strong it may cut or break.

Prayer is the strength of the cable of faith.

Prayer gives strength to the weak. Paul said: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Phi. 4:13).  2 Cori.12:9 says : “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Prayer without faith will not work. Prayer is the strength of a believer. When prayer lacks cable becomes weak and may break. Without faith and prayer hope will not work properly. Perhaps we may fear that we almost lost but if our anchor of hope have a cable of prayer in faith, it keeps our soul steady and immovable.

Christ is good ground or foundation.

Socrates said, “To ground hope on a false supposition, is like trusting to a weak anchor.” We should  ensure that  the anchor  cast on the ground is good . If it is fixed on good ground it will not drift. The believers hope is grounded in the promises of God. Scripture says: That by two immutable things, in that it was impossible for God to lie, we might have strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us .(Heb.6:18). Jesus said “heaven and earth will pass away,but my words will never pass away. Whoever cast their hope on the promises in the Word of God will  be sure and steadfast .

Destination.

Our destination is Heaven. Heaven is the port. The hope of the Christian is in Heaven itself. It is not the hope of future riches, honors, or pleasures in this life – for such a hope would not keep the soul steady; it is the hope of immortal blessedness and purity in the world beyond that calms the soul . The dreams and hopes of the world are not reliable and trustable.They are weak and cannot save us from danger. The Christian anchor of  hope is true and reliable because it has upon it heaven’s own brand sure and steadfast. it is not fixed upon sand but upon the rock Christ. Christ the pilot leads us to the port of heaven through a right path or direction.

Today many people  who have no hope will take wrong decision like suicide, drugs, and other remedies to destroy their life. Many of the believers are also under  anxiety, depression, tension, fear etc . We may think why my life is like this? Often we cannot take a step forward many a times. In this situation we may have hatred towards  life and may not want to live. But God has a perfect plan for each of the believers. We mustn’t pray for the temptations to go away rather, that God’s will might be fulfilled through them. In this situation If we cast our burden and pains upon God or we put our weak mind to His strong hands; we can confidently continue our journey and reach the finishing point.  We see in Rom.5:1-5 Tribulation produces perseverance;  and perseverance, character; and character, hope.  Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Jesus Christ is the Anchor of our Soul. We are tied with God through Jesus Christ by faith. He has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace which may comfort our hearts.

If anybody has no hope or destination yet in your life, come to Jesus Christ and you will surely get hope which is sure and steadfast. That whosoever believeth in him (Jesus Christ) should not perish, but have eternal life. (John 3:15). The Lord Jesus Christ, the Captain of the ship  will direct you in straight path without drift in the voyage .

New data published by the CBS, indicate that nearly 5,931,000 of the population are Jewish (75.3%). The Arab population stands at 1,623,000 (20.6%) and the remaining 4.1% are immigrants and their children, who are not listed as Jewish by the Interior Ministry. They comprise 327,000 residents.

Since last year’s Independence Day, 161,000 babies have been born in Israel, and 39,000 people have died. Approximately 19,000 immigrants arrived in the country, while nearly 8,000 chose to leave Israel. Another 4,500 people joined the general population as a result of family reunifications. In total, Israel’s population grew by 137, 500 – a 1.8% increase.

The data also suggest that more than 70% of the Jewish population are native-born Israelis, and more than half of them are at least second generation Israelis. In contrast, only 35% of the population were native-born in 1948.  [http://www.ynetnews.com]

I heard about the home call of Bro.Tomy form Dr JCP few minutes ago and went through many emotions. He was my Childhood friend and those memories suddenly came to my mind. He used to attend SBS camps with his father the late ME Cherian who was the founder of SBS. Once we came to our youth, I attended his marriage at Punalur and that too brings many fond memories to me today.

SBS sponsored his Child Evangelism Master Training at Bhopal with Bros.P Samson & Reji K Thomas. After the training he took the initiative to take SBS to Tamil Nadu, from where it started.

He travelled a widely in Tamil Nadu for the coordinating work of SBS. As a result now there are VBS programs across the whole of Tamil Nadu.

I will be attending a prayer meeting tonight (25 April 2012) at the residence of his brothers Jos Cherian & James Cherian at Dallas, USA. The meeting starts at 7.30 PM today and will continue up to 8.30.

Brother Tomy was working in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, as the manager of a Printing Press when he heard the Lord’s call for full-time ministry. He resigned from that job and entered full-time ministry in 1998.

Born in 1956, he had been suffering from diabetes for several years. During procedures that the doctors did in connection with a heart checkup, it was discovered that 60% function his kidneys were already lost. Since this happened silently, it was discovered so late. He was placed on dialysis years ago, first on Peritoneal and then on Haemodialysis. Eventually a boil that developed on his right toe made doctors to realize that he had extremely poor blood-circulation below his knees. They advised amputation just above the knees which he accepted to undergo provided his family allowed him to move around actively in Christian ministry — so committed was he to his call even in the midst of excessive pain and handicap.

He passed through a number of medical crises, was placed on ventilator, had a cardiac arrest, and developed temporary forgetfulness. Yet he did not lose cheerfulness and was very much committed to his spiritual call. In fact he was looking forward to a time when he would once again be fully active in the ministry in spite of his amputated leg. Many of us also had the same expectation about him, but the Lord had a different plan and purpose for him.

Let us pray that the Lord might sustain his wife and children for whom his departure is a matter of great loss. Let us also remember other family members that the Lord might sustain them in this hour of pain. [Dr. Johnson C. Philip]

What Is The Use Of Bible Prophecy?

Many people are terribly discouraged by the sensation-mongering in the field of Bible prophecy. Most of the things that these people claimed in the last 50 years have turned out to be totally false. As a result of their emotional manipulation, many left their studies and many others squandered opportunities. They felt that since Christ will come just a day after, they need not work. They became escapists and destroyed their lives.

Unfortunately, sensation-mongering is not Bible Prophecy. Like any other Bible-study, Prophetic study is a serious matter. Subjects are to be presented with great seriousness, and students should absorb them with the same seriousness. God in His providence has provided us many such teachers who handle prophecy very seriously and not in a sensational manner. Listening to this kind of teachers is a must and doing so brings many spiritual benefits for believers.

Based upon the Scripture, here are several reasons why a child of God must commit himself to a serious study of Bible Prophecy.

1. Prophecy Furnishes Evidence That The Bible Is God’s Inspired Word: We live in a generation where everything, including the Sacred, are questioned. Our children are taught to do this from the very first day they get into their school life. As a result, the divine origin and nature of the Scripture is often questioned in this generation.

Our children might not raise questions against the Bible, but the above-mentioned atmosphere in which they grow definitely makes them wonder from time to time about the divine nature and reliability of the Scripture. When such young people are exposed to prophetic studies, they begin to see how God controls the Universe and how His statements come true, and this in turn furnishes evidence to them that the Bible is God’s inspired world. Prophecy should definitely be taught in modern churches for this reason, especially if they have a large number of young people in them.

2. Prophecy Gives Confidence In God: A careful study of prophecy results in great spiritual growth and also in spiritual hope. It results in spiritual growth when we see the plan of God unfolding in history. We read about numerous nations about which the Old Testament prophets spoke, and then we see (via history and archaeology) how these things were fulfilled accurately. We read about the dream that Pharaoh or Nabuchadnezzar had and then we read in history about their fulfillment. Seeing such an outworking of God gives great confidence in the divine plan of ages. It also helps God’s children to fully realize that God is fully in control of human history. For example, in Ezekiel 35:9 we read "I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I am the LORD".  This realization in turns helps God’s children to trust increasingly in God and also to grow in spiritual life.

3. Prophecy Brings Great Consolation: We live in a totally chaotic world. There are wars, preparation for wars, and rumours of war everywhere. Mankind has not learnt anything from tens of thousands of small wars and two World Wars. Thus the world offers no hope to Christians or non Christians. The world does not seem to be moving in a good or peaceful direction. However, as one studies Bible Prophecy, it becomes clear that the world is definitely moving in a direction as Prophesied by the Scripture, and also that God’s children can look forward to a time of peace in near future. In Titus 2:13 we read "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ". In 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 we read, "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do". The Scripture gives comfort and consolation.

4. Knowledge of Prophecy Motivates Evangelism: Evangelism is the proclamation of a message that has both a present as well as a future component. Nobody has seen future and humanly there is no guarantee that what we proclaim about the future would come to pass. However, once we study Bible Prophecy, it becomes clear that these are words of the All Knowing Lord who has always seen future. That is why His words repeatedly came true in the last 6000 years. Based upon this, we know that all what He has promised shall come to pass. We can demonstrate the same to genuine inquirers who wish to have some assurance about the message that we give them about the future hope. In this manner prophecy very strongly motivates, promotes,  and supports evangelistic activities.

5. Knowledge of Prophecy Protects Believers from Deception: Right from the  time that the Lord ascended into the heavens, Christians have always looked forward to His second coming. What is more, the Scripture keeps exhorting God’s children to look forward to that coming of the Lord. The Scripture also exhorts them to prepare themselves for this coming of the Lord. However, for the last two millennia this expectation has been exploited by false teachers who have been setting one date or other for the coming of the Lord. They often use a forthcoming cataclysmic event to intimidate people into believing their false dates. Obviously, people who study Bible Prophecy in a systematic manner never fall into their trap. In Luke 21:8 we read, "And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them". In  I John 4:1 we read,  "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world". Anyone who studies prophecy in a systematic manner is able to spot false promises of the second coming of the Messiah and is able to escape deception.

We all know how important it is to study the Scripture and the Doctrines. Since the same Scripture gives as much as one-third of it to prophetic witness, it should be clear to anyone and everyone that prophecy is an prominent constituent of divine communication with mankind. It blesses them in multiple ways and therefore all believers should make the study of prophecy an important part of their commitment to the Bible.

Bible Prophecy: The Need For Serious Study

Teachers of Bible Prophecy have been proclaiming the imminent return of Christ for a long time. This trend received a great revival after the arrival of JN Darby and also the well-known Scofield Reference Bible which made the seven Dispensations very popular.

Today we live in the dispensation of the Church, which is to culminate with the second coming of Christ. This second coming takes place in two stages, the first being the rapture or taking away of the church to be with Christ. This is followed by seven years of Great Tribulation on the earth which culminates with the personal advent of Christ on the earth. This is followed by a 1000-year literal reign of Christ on the earth, and this period is known as the Millennium.

The end of the 1000-year Millennium leads to several things which are clearly mentioned in the Scripture, and are followed by the White Throne Judgement after which come the New Heavens and the New Earth. This scenario has been recollected to God’s children an endless number of times very actively since the time of Darby/Scofield and the revival of prophetic studies. Believers in Kerala (India) took a special interest in studying prophecy, and Kerala produced some of the greatest prophecy teachers and writers. They contributed greatly to the way God’s children understood prophecy and  also to the way believers prepare themselves for rapture of the Church.

However, there was a small stream of Bible teachers who did  great harm to the church through "prophetic sensationalism". These are the prophetic date-setters. The Bible is totally against any kind of date-setting and makes it clear that nobody knows of that date or hour. "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only" (Matt 24:36). They also created much confusion through wrong interpretations of the ten horns of the beast. They claimed that these ten horns represent European Union which shall have ten nations. Today the EU has more than double that number and everyone knows how this interpretation was wrong. Thus these prophetic sensationalists have done much harm through their desire to create sensationalism among their listeners.

They kept identifying things which the Scripture strictly forbids. Motivated by a desire for popularity, these people kept setting dates for the coming of Christ. Some of them gave definite dates such as 12 September 2010 for the rapture of the Church. Others made pronouncements that Christ would definitely come before 1960 or 1970. There were many who made definite pronouncements that Christ would "surely" come before AD 2000 because according to them AD 2000 was the culmination of the "Sixth Day" and the next was "everlasting rest". There were others who claimed that Richard Nixon, Mao Tse Tung, or such people were the Anti Christ.

Wrong interpretation was soon exposed when Christ did not come on the date set by many of our popular preachers. Wrong interpretation was also exposed when Richard Nixon or Mao Tse Tung passed away without proclaiming themselves as Anti Christ. Things did not happen as the way many of these prophetic teachers had declared. As a result, many people today wrongly question the entire Bible prophecy movement. However, the best Prophecy teachers in Kerala or outside never indulged in sensationalism. Only a small group of people created a lot of confusion in the field of prophecy.

Many (who are in their sixties today) have told me of how they left their studies in 1960s and 1970s because these sensationalists convinced them that the world will surely end within 1960s or 1970s. Therefore they felt that they need not study further as the Lord would come within an year or two anyway. Many of them ignored their studies, professional careers. They did not think of their retirement, and squandered all their earnings. Today they struggle for survival, and give the blame to Bible prophecy.

People loved those sensational messages because in the hard and difficult 1960s and 1970s many of them were looking for some escape from realities of life and sensationalism came to their rescue. However, when things did not happen the way they imagined them to happen, many of them have started to question the Bible.  The problem here was not with the Bible but with a small group of prophecy teachers who were more interested in capturing the mind of people through sensational interpretations.

Prophecy is not a matter of sensationalism or date setting. Bible teachers who do these things need to be avoided as they do more harm than good. At the same time, studying Bible Prophecy is not to be avoided at any cost. Almost one third of the Bible is prophecy and when the Scripture gives so much importance to Prophecy, each believer should give equal importance to it in his personal studies. Consider the following Bible-based observations:

In divine communication from God, the Bible has at least 63 instances where the phrase “it shall come to pass” is used.
In divine communication from God, the Scripture has at least 116 instances where the phrase "in that day" is used.
At least in 2304 times God uses the phrase "I will" in he communication about things that would come to pass immediately after, or in remote future, that shall come to pass after God has spoken.

Obviously, Bible prophecy is not a passing fad. It is a major part of God’s communication with mankind, and therefore God expects His children to listen carefully to prophecy and discern the meaning for their own spiritual welfare. The only precaution to take is to listen to only those teachers, and read books of only those teachers, who teach Bible prophecy without sensationalism: men who are not preoccupied with manipulating their listeners/readers, bur rather who are devoted to teaching the whole of eschatology in a systematic manner.

When one studies prophecy under such teachers, it results in tremendous spiritual encouragement and also in tremendous spiritual growth. Thus we as believers need to get seriously involved in prophetic studies whenever and wherever it is available in a serious and systematic manner.

Israeli TV Report Shows Air Force Gearing Up For Iran Attack

A major Israel TV station on Sunday night broadcast a detailed report on how Israel will go about attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities in the event that diplomacy and sanctions fail and Israel decides to carry out a military strike. The report, screened on the main evening news of Channel 10, was remarkable both in terms of the access granted to the reporter, who said he had spent weeks with the pilots and other personnel he interviewed, and in the fact that his assessments on a strike were cleared by the military censor.

No order to strike is likely to be given before the P5+1 talks with Iran resume in May, the reporter, Alon Ben-David, said. “But the coming summer will not only be hot but tense.” In the event that negotiations fail and the order is given for Israel to carry out an attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, “dozens if not more planes” will take part in the mission: attack and escort jets, tankers for mid-air refueling, electronic warfare planes and rescue helicopters, the report said.

Ben-David said the Israel Air Force “does not have the capacity to destroy the entire Iranian program.” There will be no replication of the decisive strikes on Iraq’s Osirak reactor in 1981 or on Syria in 2007, he said. “The result won’t be definitive.” But, a pilot quoted in the report said, the IAF will have to ensure that it emerges with the necessary result, with “a short and professional” assault.

Ben-David said that if negotiations break down, and Iran moves key parts of its nuclear program underground to its Qom facility, the IAF “is likely to get the order and to set out on the long journey to Iran.”  “Years of preparations are likely to come to realization,” he said, adding that “the moment of truth is near.” Ben-David interviewed several squadron leaders, pilots and other officers. He noted that some of the IAF personnel, “it is likely, will not return from the mission.” An officer named Gilad said it would be “naive” to think there would be no losses.

The IAF is said to be worried about the advanced anti-aircraft systems that Russia has sold to countries in the region, the report said. Among those systems, the SA 17 and 22 in Syria and Iran present a challenge. According to the report, it’s the older versions of the F-15 that can fly further than any other plane in Israel’s arsenal, and this puts them on the front line of any potential attack. One pilot said in the report that the F-15 “is a plane with a very wide range of operation — a combination of relatively energy-efficient engines, and significant flightworthiness regarding weapons and fuel.”

The IAF has a full-sized unmanned plane, the “Eitan,” that is said to be able to fly to Iran, the report indicated. “This plane can do all that is required of it when the order is given,” a pilot said, without elaboration.  The attack, the report said, would presumably trigger a war in northern Israel, with missile attacks (presumably from the Iranian-proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon). “There will be no tranquility and peace anywhere in Israel,” Ben-David said.

This could be the first full-scale war the IAF has fought in nearly 30 years, the report stated. Pilots had already been told where their families would be moved, away from their bases, for safety, the report said. [http://www.timesofisrael.com]

Yet here we have our Creator who knows it all — from eternity post. Yet He loved us to the extent of giving away His Son to die on our behalf. Such love should immediately motivate us for the deepest commitment that is possible for us.

Brother TC Reji came into full-time ministry in 1995, and has since 2006  been working for the Lord at Thuthiyoor with the help of the Edayekunnam assembly. This place is close to Kakkanad which is fast rising to be the electronic and technological center of Ernakulam (Kochi).

The first step and the last step of a race are most important. These can make or break the race. The brother who gave me the first major push in book-publishing is Samuel John, a person who did not even know me at that time.

From my childhood I wanted to be a published writer. I wanted to publish books — many books. The first opportunity came when GLS Bombay in 1986 invited me from their side to submit a book on Bible and Modern Science. Since I had been working on such a book for almost 16 years, I completed the book the same year and submitted it to them. They promised to publish it the same year.

Years soon moved on, but they did not keep their promise. In 1990 I asked them to return the manuscript because it was 5 years already. They promised  to publish it the same year and made me revise the book. I did so at great investment of time. They loved the manuscript, but did not publish it. Then in 1995 I asked them to return the manuscript because it was with them for almost 10 years. They again promised to publish it the same year, made me to revise it a second time, and liked the manuscript.

However, GLS did not keep the promise. Since this was my first book, it had the power to make or brake me. Ten years of waiting and two revisions after, it broke me when they did not publish the book. I went from pillar to post. All of them said the book was superb, but had no answer as to why they did not publish it though it is they who invited me to give it to them in the first place. I was devastated and decided NEVER to submit any book to any Christian publisher.

It is at that time that Mr. Samuel John, ex Bahrain and a businessman, came to know of my predicament. We had never met each other before, and he had only a glimpse of me when I spoke in an assembly at Trivandrum. He immediately decided to publish that book and asked me to send me the manuscript to him. Within 3 months the book was published. He took 250 copies and gave me 750 to use as I wanted. The entire investment was his, and he said that the investment was a gift from his side to encourage a young and promising writer.

What he did transformed my whole life. From a discouraged writer I became a zealous writer. Today I have more than 100 books (theology, communication, numismatics, physics) and 10,000 articles to my credit. However, the real credit goes to Mr. Samuel John who gave me the right push at the right time.

This in turn taught me a vital lesson of life — never say ‘no’ or ‘wait’ to a person who wants to take his next step. What he/she wishes to do might seem impossible to us, but that is not the main issue. What is important is not to quench his or her spirit.

Thrissur: The 110th Brethren Convention at East Fort Brethren Church binds up with great pleasure. The believers around Thrissur and other districts gathered together to hear the word of God. The specialty of this convention was that the people gathered with an earnest desire to hear the word of God. On closing message Br. P.v.James stated that he was moved by the presence of belivers with an eagerness to hear the message from the Lord. His voice was like a lion proclaiming the goodnews of salvation and also a call of return to the joy of salvation for believers. Dr. D Prabhudas spoke on the eternal peace in christ. His message was so smooth and heart touching. Heart Beats led the musical section which caused many unbelievers to participate the program and there were around 5 people who have accepted Christ as their personal saviour these days. Br. M.P.Godly, James Williams and Babu Varghese (Nadathara) prayed on the last day program. After all the program was a great blessing. Valakom: YMEF (ND) Bible Camp was a great blessing. This year has shown a great demand for the word of God. There were more than 250 members participating the bible class every day. On friday there were round 450 members to attend the class. The Spirit of God has moved through the mouths of the speakers and all the believers were challenged. The camp started on April 4 and continued till April 7. Main speakers were Br. Jose Mankudy, Samuel B.Thomas and Kunjumon Daniel. Br. Jose mankudy has spoken about the need of submitting to one another in the fear of Christ (Eph 5:21).
